Mornington Peninsula
Mornington Peninsula
Where The Sea Meets Shiraz
As well as a stunning coastline made up of pristine beaches, the Peninsula is home to over 200 vineyards and 50 Cellar Doors giving Melbourne another stunning wine region just an hour away from the City.
Another cool-climate wine region, the area’s big hits are often Pinot Noir and Chardonnay although here at VBC we love the Shiraz from this region. Despite the first vines being planted here in the 1970’s, this beautiful part of Victoria has come out of the Yarra Valley’s shadows to now be a standalone respected wine country.
Just like the Yarra Valley, the area also has breweries and cideries as well as gin and rum distilleries. The best thing about that sentence? They’re actually all on the same road within walking distance of each other!
Mornington Peninsula is also perfect for those who like to indulge and we can include stop offs for cheese or chocolate dipped strawberries as part of your day.

Some Of Our Friends
When you think of a sunny day sitting on a picnic blanket with friends, grazing on local produce whilst drinking white wine in the sun you’re actually imagining a day at Green Olive. Their food is sumptuous and it’s wine just as good. One thing though, we do only recommend jumping on their garden trampoline if you stop there in the morning.
VBC Favourite: 2016 Pinot Grigio

Hickinbothams is such an interesting place due to their history in wine-making (making it since 1936!) in Australia. Their founder played a huge part in Australia gaining notoriety in the winemaking world and the 4th generation (Jake) of the family name is now the head-brewer, or as we know him, the man behind the beer! They also have great share plate options if you want a more casual, yet still delicious lunch.
VBC Favourite: Hix Ruby Red Grape Cider

We love Tucks and their upfront selection of ranges such as NOW which is straight up, no vintage palava lets just drink it, good on the pocket. Another is the Tucks Estate range which as their website says ‘is made with fruit exclusively from our little patch of dirt.’ Like many in the area they specialise in Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. With a pleasant outdoor space, this is also another good lunch spot and works really well with the rest of the day.
VBC Favourite: Tucks Vues

The beautiful views of Port Phillip Bay make this a must do, even if you don’t like wine to be honest!. If you do like wine then this is ideal as our groups taste 8-10 different wines here, what a win! If you’re looking to go all out and take lunch to the next level, Max’s restaurant is a great choice for Foodies and well worth the upgrade.
VBC Favourite: Red Hill Estate Prosecco

Soft, hard, sharp, goats, you name it, Main Ridge do it, and do it well. Nestled in between several vineyards, this is an easy stop to add on and one of our favourites because not only are the tastings great, we can never help but buy something delicious from the delicatessen packed with chutney, marinated cheeses and pickles! Once you’ve devoured the best cheese on the planet, go for a walk around the property saying hi to the baby goats as you go!
VBC Favourite: Main Ridge Marinated Chevre
Main Ridge Dairy

Despite tippling with brandys and liqueurs, Gin is the staple of Bass and Flinders and we know why. Some funky botanicals create some great flavours that you don’t often see in your standard G+T! This cute little stop is a real favourite of ours and the tastings are as interesting as they are thirst quenching! Due to the venue size it has a max capacity of 15 for tastings. VBC Favourite: Orient Gin |

Distillery
The Mornington Peninsula’s original craft beer brewery is always experimenting with different flavours to add to it’s already solid core range. From IPAs to Mexican Mole Stout, they have the whole spectrum covered!
Hidden away in Red Hill this almost barn-like tasting location complete with chalkboards and swinging doors is the ideal place for a day of drinking in the country.
VBC Favourite: Red Door Irish Red Ale
Red Hill Brewery

This working distillery has a rustic warehouse feel inside as well as an outside that just encourages you to lounge-about on bean bags and take in the day. These guys offer straight up rums, tasting paddles, twists on the classic cocktails or if you fancy it, a local wine from the area. Something for everyone! VBC Favourite: Espresso Rumtini |

Frequently Asked Questions
Absolutely you can! These packages are our most popular but are there as a guide for you to see what we can include, as well as give you an idea on some prices. We’re able to customise it exactly to what you want because it’s your group’s day right?! You might want to replace a winery with a brewery, cut a venue altogether or change the lunch option, whatever you’d like to do we’ll be able to work that out with you as well as be as open and transparent on how these changes may affect the final price.
You sure can! Mornington Peninsula, The Yarra Valley and The Bellarine Peninsula all have venues specialising in producing different alcohol aside from wine and we can make your whole day about those venues instead.
Everyone is different and we get that, you might want to try the latest offering from Four Pillars in the Yarra Valley or smash tinnies at Jetty Road Brewery, we’ll work with you to organise that!
That’s right! Every one of our winery tour packages include a free drink (for you and your party) at our favourite Melbourne bar, the epic Mill House on Flinders Lane!
We get it, you’re seeing this phrase a lot here, but what actually is it? Whether it be a winery, a distillery or a brewery, a friendly, helpful and knowledgeable member of the venue’s team will take us through a range of their offerings. Not only should you learn a bit, it’s a fun experience that could well throw up a new favourite drink for you. A normal session would consist of tasting 4-6 different drinks.
You tell us! We can cater for any group size from 2-50 however we do have to consider venue sizes as well as practicalities on tastings. With that in mind we do recommend a maximum of 24. Either way, we’re here to make it work so let us know your thoughts and we’ll work with you to make it happen.
We are all about making it easy for you. If you have no clue on where to go, that’s fine as that’s why we’re here! We’ve been doing this a while and will create your day based on our knowledge of the area, your group size and the experience you’re looking for. Alternatively if you have a venue or 2 you know you want to include, we can aim to work that into your itinerary too.
So whether it’s wineries, breweries or distilleries or you want to go to the Yarra Valley, Mornington Peninsula or the Bellarine, no worries, we can do it all!
Sorry, we leave them at the door of each venue.Yes of course! As long as we know in advance we’ll give the venues a heads up and you and your group will be taken care of!
Bank Transfer is the preferred method but we have Credit Card and PayPal facilities also. We can also set up split payments for your group to make it easier for everyone coming along on the day. Basically, whatever works for you, works for us, that’s what we are all about!
You tell us! We can pick up from a location that works for you and your party within Inner Melbourne but we are also happy to discuss other options. We can add another pickup if on the way/close by but ideally it will be a location everyone from the group can get to.
Got dinner reservations after the big day? We can drop you off at another location if needed.
*Re pickup and drop-off additions, the price may be affected depending on the situation but we’ll be open and honest with you from the start.
Of course you can! As we keep saying, this is your day, not ours. Your day=your tunes. We provide the facilities for you to blast your favorite bangers all day long. Failing that we can promise dad jokes and stock standard banter from all of our drivers.
Absolutely! We want to make it your day so we’re happy for decorations to be up in the bus. The only thing we ask is you take the decorations with you at the end of the day. Not only can it take time to tidy up, it can be awkward for our driver heading home with a fully decorated bus, it looks like no-one turned up to their party.
Our Promise To Make Your Day Special
At Victorian Bus Charters, we pride ourselves on offering a great day out with a very simple process. For too long sorting that perfect day out has been such a drama for the organiser friend, best men, maids of honour and social coordinators. We’ve changed that and we’re making it easy!
VBC has all the things you should be looking for in a Bus Company:
- We are an accredited bus operator through Transport Safety Victoria. TSV Accreditation is a legal requirement and you should always look for an operator that has this. TSV requires their operators to maintain the highest bus safety management standards.
- It’s your day, not ours. Whether it’s timings, budget, group sizes or tastings, we’re all about being flexible to you and your needs.
- We love these regions as much as you do! Not only that but we’ve got a good knowledge on what works in terms of lunches, how many stops, the best Summer spots to the best selfie shot. You name it, we’ll be able to help with it.
- Our drivers are as cool as the other side of the pillow! Do you want a bus driver that always looks at the clock and wears high socks and a tie? Didn’t think so! Our drivers love groups and understand what makes a great day out and this is something we pride ourselves on.
