Melbourne City Tour

Explore the Culture Capital of the Country

The cultural capital of the country, Melbourne is Australia’s most liveable city. And it’s no surprise why—each corner offers something unique.

From the heart of the city at the perennial Yarra River to the upscale diners of Southbank and backpacker havens of St. Kilda’s seaside town, there’s a liveliness that just can’t be matched.

Melbournians can be spotted cladding the colours of their favourite team all winter—footy season—long, showing off why the city is also the sport capital. Home to an eccentric nightlife, Melbourne has the most restaurants and cafes per number of people than any other city in the world. But true locals know some of the best spots are hidden in laneways and alleys.

With so much to do, where do you even begin? Let us show you the city from a local perspective!

Where We Go

Queen Victoria Market

Since the mid 1800s, Melburnians have sourced their fresh produce from the Queen Victoria Market. As the heart of Melbourne, the market is home to over 600 unique small business vendors, selling everything from produce, food and coffee to souvenirs, crafts, and clothing. A trip to the market is essential for a day spent in Melbourne.

Parliament House

As one of Melbourne’s most known landmarks, Parliament house was originally built to house the parliament of Victoria during Colonial times, though it ended up witnessing Australia’s infancy when the Commonwealth of Australia was declared in 1901. Until 1927, this was the home of the Australian Parliament and is now the current home of the Victorian Government.

Shrine of Remembrance

An important monument for Victorians, the construction of the Shrine of Remembrance first began in 1928 and was founded in 1934 as the National War Memorial of Victoria. Originally built through public donations as a place to honour and grieve those killed in the First World War, the eternal flame stands to honour sacrifices of every conflict since Australia’s Federation in 1901.

St. Kilda

Considered Melbourne’s seaside playground, St. Kilda is the epicenter of fun for people of all ages. Between buzzing live music, a thriving LGBTQ+ community, fine dining combined with European pastry shops, a crowded amusement park, major arts and culture festivals, and Melbourne’s most popular beach, there’s always fun to be found in St. Kilda.
